Travel Shorts - our world in motion
This HD video category - Travel Shorts reflects the developments in HD video in stills cameras. The winning films will feature in our exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) in 2014.
HD videos for this category must be shot on stills camera, not on video cameras, and can be solely moving footage, images shot as time-lapse sequences or a combination of stills and video imagery.
What subjects can you include?
Your HD video must be an insight into a country or a place, lasting no more than 3 minutes (180 seconds) in length. Shorter videos are acceptable but films longer than 3 minutes will be disqualified. You may add a musical soundtrack to your video if you wish provided that the music is credited, copyright released and free from royalties.
HD video is a new challenge to photographers, but as technologies converge and photography becomes more and more important as part of the social media environment, we want to see how photographers are rising to the challenge. Submissions should be short, snappy and engaging.
How to enter?
Short HD video shot on a stills camera only can be entered in this category and all entries are on DVD by post. There is no upload are for entries in this category. The entry form can be downloaded from this website and entries should be sent by post to the TPOTY office address (see contact us or follow the entry process for print entries for full address and captioning information). The entry fee can be paid online or by post.
What are the judges looking for?
An original approach to a short film, a sense of atmosphere, creativity, originality.
Am I eligible?
This category is open to all photographers aged 19 years and over. All entries must have been shot on a digital stills camera NOT a digital video camera. Videos must be 3 minutes (180 seconds) or shorter.
How many times can I enter?
You can enter this category as often as you wish.
