Overall winner - the Travel Photographer of the Year 2018

The Travel Photographer of the Year 2018 will win a special award, which will be presented to the photographer who is judged to have submitted the best images across the portfolio categories - 'Faces, People, Cultures', 'Natural World' or 'Travel'.

Photographers are automatically entered into this award if they enter the eight-image "Travel" portfolio category at least once or submit at least two entries in the four-image portfolio categories.

What does winning mean?

The Travel Photographer of the Year award is a highly prestigious award which gains massive international recognition and media coverage. Your images will also feature in our exhibitions which are currently seen by over 1.5 million people.

The winner receives a great prize, but - equally importantly - has the satisfaction of winning one of the most hotly-contested photography awards in the world.

The international exposure that goes with that success is considerable and has raised the profile of past winners, helping them to sell their images, gain commissions and much more. Warning - winning this award can change your life!

How many images?

2 portfolios of 4 images each in either or both of the 'Faces, People, Cultures' and 'Natural World' OR a single eight-image portfolio in the 'Travel' categories. You can enter the same category more than once, or enter two or three separate categories as often as you wish.

What are the judges looking for?

An ability to photograph different travel-related subjects in an interesting, engaging and impactful way; creativity, originality, and also diversity across the portfolios submitted.

Am I eligible?

Entry is automatic if you enter the eight-image 'Travel' portfolio category or submit two entries in the four-image portfolio categories.

The winner of this category will receive at TPOTY bursary of £4,000, a personalized leather portfolio case or iFolio case from Plastic Sandwich, £750 worth of Páramo outdoor clothing, membership of the Royal Photographic Society and will star in the TPOTY exhibitions in 2019.
