This year’s theme is ‘Travel Experiences’. Awards will be given in the 14 and Under and 15-18 age groups, and one overall winner will be chosen – the Young Travel Photographer of the Year 2024.
All travel is an adventure, an experience, whether it is an exciting holiday or just a local day out. Great images are just as likely to come from familiar surroundings or close to home, as from long distance travel. Show us a collection of four travel images, in colour or black and white, which you are most proud of!
What subjects can you include?
Any experience or adventure which you had while you were on your travels. Try to make your pictures fit together and tell a story of what you saw and did while travelling.
What are the judges looking for?
A carefully thought-out set of pictures which show us your view of your travel experiences, with a link between the images in your portfolio. Creativity, originality.
How many images?
Four (4) images showing us what inspired you on your travels.
Am I eligible?
This category is only for photographers aged 18 years and under on the closing date – 6th October 2024.
Young TPOTY is divided into two age groups: 15-18 years old and 14 years & under. A winner will be chosen from each of the two age groups. The theme is the same for both age groups.
The judges will also choose one overall winner – Young Travel Photographer of the Year 2024 – from all the entries in Young TPOTY, regardless of entrant age group.
How many times can I enter?
You can enter this category as many times as you want to.
What is the entry fee?
Young TPOTY is FREE to enter – there is no entry fee.
Do I need to shoot new material to be able to enter this category?
No! We have always allowed entrants to submit images from their archives – i.e. contemporary photography shot in recent years – and have always said that ‘travel starts when you leave your home’. So it’s your choice. You can travel locally or travel further afield. Entries close on 6th October.
Please see the information on digital manipulation and note that entrants who are shortlisted as finalists will be required to provide the original image files (RAW or jpeg as shot).
Prizes
The Young TPOTY winner receives £500 plus Radiant Photo imaging software. The winners of the individual age groups each receive £250. All three young winners also win a place on an Eye for the Light one-day photography workshop or receive an online imaging critique.
