The Royal Photographic Society

The Royal Photographic Society works to make photography for everyone. It was founded in 1853 to promote photography and support photographers. Today, It aims to inspire people through its exhibitions, Journal, awards and events;  to  help photographers create images through its educational programmes, and public initiatives, and to recognise skills and creativity through its Distinctions and qualification programmes; and it seeks to connect photographers throughout the world through membership, and the activities of its UK and international hubs and specialist groups, not least though its Travel, Landscape, Natural History and Documentary groups.

RPS membership is open to everyone with an interest in photography whether you are just starting out on your photography journey or are an experienced photography looking to put something back and support others.

The RPS has members in over 80 countries across six continents with 22 Chapters in countries including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, Switzerland, Australia amongst others. Each Chapter arranges events and activities for local members and acts as a point of contact for headquarters. Our Chapters welcome visiting members from elsewhere in the world.

Our sponsors and partners

It would not be possible to run Travel Photographer of the Year without the support of our sponsors and partners, and we are hugely grateful for their involvement each year. Click the logo to learn more about each of Travel Photographer of the Year’s sponsor and partners.
