How to enter:
- Choose your categories:
TPOTY 2011 has four Portfolio categories (Cultures & Traditions, Natural Elements, Exotic and Spirit of Adventure); two single image categories, - One Shot and First Shot; the New Talent category; the Young Travel Photographer of the Year award (with two different age groups) and the Travel Photographer of the Year award.
Choose the category or categories you want to enter and are eligible for. You can enter these categories as many times as you like, apart from New Talent, which can only be entered once. If you enter New Talent you can also enter any of the other categories which you are eligible for.
To be considered for the overall title of Travel Photographer of the Year you need to enter at least two of the four Portfolio categories. If you fulfil this criteria then you will automatically be considered for the top award and don't need to do anything else to qualify.

The rules contain vital information on eligibility, and it's your responsibility to ensure that your images qualify for TPOTY.
- Select which images:
Photographers don't always choose their best images over their favourite images. You'll find lots of useful information to help you through the editing process and guide you on what the judges look for on the Selecting Images page.
- Complete an entry form and pay your entry fee:
Entry forms will be available from June 2011. Entry fees can be paid by PayPal or by cheque in £ sterling. Payment in other currencies will not be accepted
- Enter online or submit prints:
ONLINE ENTRIES - You can upload your images, complete an entry form and make your payment online by clicking the 'Online Entries' button. Entry to Young TPOTY is free of charge. All other categories require an entry fee, and this is shown on the Entry Fees page. PLEASE NOTE: The final round of judging is done with prints so all shortlisted entrants will be required to provide prints in November. If you are shortlisted you will be notified, and you can organise your own printing or use the printing service which TPOTY has set up with Genesis Imaging.
PRINT ENTRIES - If you would like to submit your images as prints only, please click the 'Print Entries' button for details of how present and submit your prints, and a link to a downloadable entry form which you can print out and send with your prints and entry fee. Entry to Young TPOTY is free of charge. All other categories require an entry fee, and this is shown on the Entry Fees page.
- Make sure you enter before the deadline:
Submit your entry online or by post by the closing date of October 9th, 2011.
TPOTY is open for entry for six months. There will not be a deadline extension!
- Submit high-res entry images for TPOTY exhibitions/books (optional):
If you would like the images you enter to be considered for future TPOTY books or exhibitions, please include a CD or DVD of print-resolution versions of the images you enter. Details of how to do this appear in the Online Entries and Print Entries pages.
