TPOTY 2022 CATEGORIES IN FOCUS: THE ART OF MONOCHROME

In a portfolio of four images (monochrome or B&W only) we would like you to show us your vision of the world of travel and all that it includes.

Photography started in monochrome and, despite the emergence of colour film and the ability to capture myriad colours digitally in a colourful world, the black and white (B&W) image remains powerful and an important medium in all types of photography, not least travel. It can be incredibly atmospheric.

Over the years the TPOTY awards have featured some quite astonishing B&W images – and B&W images have featured not only among category winners but also among the overall winners.

In a portfolio of four images (monochrome or B&W only) we would like you to show us your vision of the world of travel and all that it includes.

By entering this category twice, or entering this category once plus one of the other four-image portfolio categories once, you will automatically be considered for the top award and the title of Travel Photographer of the Year 2022.

Prize

The winner of this category will receive the new Fujifilm X100V, and membership of The Royal Photographic Society, Radiant Photo imaging software plus a copy of Tonic magazine.

The judges will also select their favourite image from all the submitted portfolios. The winner of the Best Single Image award for each portfolio category receives a Genesis Imaging giclée exhibition print.
